Privacy policy

Crustify is a pizza game that plays on your phone and works offline. This policy explains what stays on your device, what it sends to our analytics provider, and what you can do about it.

The short version

Crustify has no account, shows no ads and never asks for your name, email or any other personal details. The game plays with no connection. When your phone is online, the game sends anonymous usage analytics and session replay (silent screen recordings of play) to our analytics provider, PostHog, so we can see what works and fix what does not. We do not sell this data, and we do not use it to advertise to you or to track you across other companies’ apps and websites.

What stays on your device

To work as a game, Crustify keeps a few things in your phone’s local storage: your settings (sound, haptics and bake hints), whether you have seen the tips, and counters it uses to decide when it is a good moment to ask for a rating, such as how many pizzas you have cooked.

This stays on your device. We never receive it, and it is deleted when you delete the app.

Analytics

Crustify uses PostHog to understand how the game is played: which screens you open, how long a session lasts, and what the app is doing, such as when it opens and closes. We use this to find bugs, tune the difficulty and decide what to build next.

Each install gets a random identifier that we cannot tie to your name or your Apple Account. Like any internet request, the data reaches PostHog with your IP address. It is processed by PostHog’s cloud service in the United States, under PostHog’s privacy policy. With no connection, the game holds the data on your phone until it is next online. Analytics are switched off in our own testing.

Session replay: recordings of play

To see where players get stuck, Crustify records your play as a series of screenshots of the game screen, taken about once a second, which PostHog can play back like a short silent video. A recording shows what you saw: the dough, the sauce, the oven, the pizza and the buttons you pressed.

What a recording does not include: sound, the camera, the microphone, your location, anything you type into a text field (any text field is blanked out), or anything outside the game. Crustify has no accounts and no personal details on screen, so a recording does not show who you are.

Why we do it: only to improve the game. We watch recordings ourselves, never to identify you, and we never use them for advertising or sell them. Recordings are stored by PostHog and kept only as long as we need them for this purpose.

If a recording ever caught something you would rather it had not, email us with the approximate date and time and we will do what we reasonably can to remove it. Because the identifier is random and not linked to you, we may not be able to find a specific recording without that detail.

The fold, the screen and the sensors

On iPhone Duo the game reads how far the phone is open, so the oven door can open and close with it. That reading is used live to run the game. It is never stored or sent anywhere. Crustify does not use the camera, the microphone, your location, your contacts or your photos. It keeps the screen awake while a pizza is baking and returns it to normal afterwards.

Asking for a rating

After you cook a pizza the game may ask you to rate it, using Apple’s standard rating prompt. Apple controls that prompt and decides whether to show it. Crustify never sees whether you rated, what you wrote or how many stars you gave. Ratings and reviews are handled by Apple under its own privacy policy.

Apple and the App Store

Downloading Crustify happens through the App Store, so Apple processes your Apple Account, any purchase and the usage data you choose to share with developers, under Apple’s privacy policy. If you share app analytics with developers, Apple may give us aggregated and anonymous figures such as downloads and crashes. They cannot be tied back to you.

Third parties

The only third party software in Crustify is the PostHog analytics kit described above. There are no advertising kits and no data brokers, and we do not share your data with anyone else.

Children

Crustify is a game anyone can play, but it is not designed to collect information from children. It has no ads, no chat, no accounts and no way to contact other players, and the analytics described above are anonymous. If you are a parent and want a child’s data removed, email us.

Your choices

Delete the app to remove everything it stored on your device. Reinstalling gives the game a new random identifier. You can turn sound, haptics and bake hints on or off in the game’s Settings at any time. To ask about the analytics we hold, email us at the address below.

Changes and contact

If we change what the game does with data, we will update this page and its date before the change ships.
